Organising school photos and memorabilia with Arber & Co’s School Memories Book Binder transforms the task into a creative and enjoyable experience. By following these steps, you’ll not only preserve precious memories but also create a stunning keepsake that beautifully showcases the journey of your child’s academic years.
Step 1. School Photos. Collate your child’s School Photos if you have them, choose which ones you wish to use in your School Memories Book and consider gifting the left overs to grandparents or other family members who would appreciate them. Alongside our Adhesive Photo Corners, we recommend using double sided photo adhesive, you can get this at your local Kmart or Officeworks. Simply cut off a square of adhesive for each corner of the photo and stick it down. The main advantage of using our Adhesive Photo Corners is that you don’t physically have to put anything on the school photos as it just slips inside the photo corner which makes it easy to change photos if you change your mind or even adjust which way a photo sits and it won’t damage the photo.
Step 3. Artworks. We recommend keeping one or two of your child’s favourite artworks from each year to add into the School Memories Book to keep it a little bit fun and it also displays a bit of their character at that particular age. Beyond that though, we do recommend being mindful about what you choose to store and what you allow to clog up your mental and physical spaces. Surprisingly this has a bigger effect on us than we realise! Consider keeping additional artworks in a separate display folder for viewing until your child no longer displays interest in wanting to keep them. If your children are anything like mine, they want to keep and frame EVERY SINGLE ONE, but I assure you this wont last, so keep a couple extra special pieces in your School Memories Book and the rest can go into the folder that will disappear one day when you see fit 😉.
Step 4. Personal Notes. Set aside a small amount of time (I think it took me 30 minutes to do a whole year of memory keeping) to stick your child’s photos in place, and write down some of your most proudest moments. They say the best way to fill your child’s cup and boost their confidence in this world is to let them over hear you saying positive things about them to other people. Better yet, let them read your thoughts on paper, have you ever read something positive and meaningful that someone has written about you? I am certain it hits you on a different level. Do this for your kids, it will mean more to them than you realise. Keep in mind this space is for positive notes, even if there were times you felt disappointed in their choices through out the year, it doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, it’s the positive words that will hit home and have an everlasting effect on them.
Step 5. Awards, Certificates, Report Cards. These are best to pop into our clear plastic display sleeves. These are another one of those things that kids are receiving a lot of lately, from participation awards to 100 days of prep. We recommend once again to be mindful of which certificates actually mean something enough to hang onto for the rest of their lives. I think it’s safe to say most schools are doing digital report cards now and so it is up to you whether you want to display these in your School Memories Book.
Step 6. What if a page is not relevant to me? We recommend covering the page with photos as the best way to utilise the page without wasting it, alternatively you can just simply remove any pages that are not relevant to your situation.
